Insurance Penalties for DUI: What are
they? *
Boone, Beale, Cosby and Long, your resource for a Virginia
DUI Lawyer, wants you to know what you’re facing with
the current Insurance penalties.
When convicted of a DUI, your insurance company will be required
to file a form SR-22 (future proof of insurance) for at least
3 years. When your insurance company receives notice of your
conviction, they will most likely increase your rates, and
could cancel your policy mid-term, or at the end of your term.
If your insurance is cancelled, you will not be able to lift
the suspension on your license. You will need to find another
insurer, and the cancellation will appear on your insurance
claims history.
